The book-album was created on the basis of fundamental research on the historical development of the art of Uzbekistan, its characteristics, from the 4th millennium BC to the 3rd-4th centuries AD, the art of the early Middle Ages, the 5th-8th centuries, the art of the Islamic era, the beginning of the 9th-20th centuries, and the art of Uzbekistan during the period of independence. dedicated to the masterpiece artistic heritage of the Uzbek people. The fundamental work "History of the Art of Uzbekistan" prepared by Academician Akbar Khakimov is the first fundamental publication on the history of the art of Uzbekistan in the last 60 years. In the publication, the rich history of the development of art fields such as fine art, artistic crafts, decorative arts, architecture, sculpture, miniatures of our people from ancient times to the present day is revealed with the help of new methodological approaches, many scientific sources and artifacts.
The book consists of 9 chapters, in which new works of art, which have not been published before, are kept in the museums of our country and abroad. Based on the analysis of the works of our country and foreign scholars, the author interprets the various historical stages and features of the regional art schools in Uzbekistan in a new way. For the covers, the gilded miniature "The Saint Teaches a Young Man" (XVII century) in Uzbek, Afrosiyab mural paintings (VII-VIII centuries) in Russian, Buddha's head (from the fund of the Institute of Art Studies) were chosen for the covers. The work contains color and black-and-white photos of more than a thousand artifacts. The photos were collected from the museums of our republic, as well as from the famous foreign museums and centers of the Metropolitan, British, Hermitage, Tretyakov Gallery, Marjany Foundation and other museums.
The main conclusion of the author is that the existence of symbiosis of different artistic traditions while preserving the unique style of Uzbek art revealed the most important features of the art of the Uzbek people.
