Asrlar xazinasi: O‘zbekiston qo‘lyozmalari merosi

As part of the International Cultural Heritage Week, an international forum of orientalists and an exclusive exhibition titled "Treasure of Centuries: Heritage of Manuscripts of Uzbekistan" were organized at the Abu Rayhan Beruni Institute of Oriental Studies.

The exclusive exhibition was organized at the Abu Rayhan Beruni Institute of Oriental Studies, one of the richest manuscript collections in the world. The fund is also known for the unique number of jewels, thematic, linguistic and periodic diversity, and unique book decoration. 

It was added to the Unesco Memory of the World Register in 2000. Today, the foundation contains more than 26,000 manuscripts in Arabic script and about 40,000 printed books and more than 5,000 historical documents.   

Among them, there are many sources of scientific and artistic importance. Of these, a series of manuscripts entitled” Kulliyoti Rumiy “was also added to the Unesco Memory of the World list in 2023.   

The foundation houses works written in old Uzbek, Arabic, Persian, urdu, Pashtu, Azerbaijani, Turkish, tatar, Turkmen, Uyghur and other oriental languages dating from the 10th – 20th centuries. They are devoted to the fields of Science in the Middle Ages and beyond, such as history, literature, philosophy, law, falakiyot, chemistry, medicine, geography, medicine, language, music, mathematics, mining.

These works are valuable resources in the study of the history of the Turkestan region, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, China and Arab states, the history of political-economic, cultural, diplomatic relations between them.    The manuscript Treasury contains the works of hundreds of Turonian thinkers such as Muhammad ibn Musa Khwarizmi, Ahmad Farghani, Imam Bukhari, Farabi, Abu Mansur Moturidi, Abu Rayhon Beruniy, Ibn Sino, Mahmud Koshgari, Najmiddin Umar Nasafi, Burhoniddin Marghinani, Mirzo Ulugbek, among others. The devons of Alisher Navoi, the works of Abdurahman Jomi himself, the numerous devons of Uzbek and Persian poets are kept.   The exclusive exhibition includes such scientific works as “at-Tafhim” by Abu Rayhan Beruni, “the laws of Tib” by Abu Ali ibn Sina, “Ziji Koragani” by Mirzo Ulugbek, “Ishtiyorot-I fiction” by Ali ibn Ansari, “Kitab Sir al-asror” by Abu Bakr Muhammad Rozi, Langar Quran, “Al-Jome’ as-Sahih” by Muhammad ibn Ismail al-Bukhari, “Gharib ul-Hadis” by Abu Ubayd al-Qasim ibn Salam and his sources on khadisianism, as well as works on history such as sharafiddin Ali Yazdi's “Zafarnama”, Mas'ud bin Uthman Kukhistani's “Historia Abulhairkhani, rare copies of works on literature such as “Devoni Navoi” by Alisher Navoi are also on display.    More than 100 foreigners and local scientists, researchers and cultural workers attended the conference. Visiting scholars from Japan, India, UAE, Turkey and Tajikistan attended their lectures.   An exhibition entitled “treasure of the ages: manuscripts of Uzbekistan” was initially held. Then the director of the Institute of Oriental Studies named after Uzrfa Abu Rayhon Beruniy B.Abduhalimov, director of the Center for Islamic civilization in Uzbekistan F.Abdukholikov and rector of Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies G.Rikhsiyeva noted that the study of the heritage of our great ancestors is an urgent issue.
