A large-scale exhibition dedicated to the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan, which covers two thousand years - from the pre-Islamic period to the Timurid era, will be opened at the Louvre Museum in Paris. It tells about the history of the Great Silk Road that passed through the southern region of today's Uzbekistan, presents monumental and machine art objects, wall paintings, carved details of palaces, artistic crafts.
The Silk Road area contains the traces and treasures of many civilizations and ethnic groups representing different cultures and ways of life. In the last few years, many archaeological discoveries have been made, as well as important restoration works. Therefore, part of the exposition will be shown to the public for the first time.
The exhibition included 168 museum exhibits, in particular, 137 exhibits from 13 museums of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as 31 exhibits from leading museums of the world. Especially for the exhibition, 70 items were restored by Uzbek and French experts. Restoration work began in 2017. In addition, the system of transportation of the most valuable items from Uzbekistan to France was established and carefully organized together with the experts of the Louvre.
The exhibition was organized in cooperation with the Fund for the Development of Culture and Art under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Louvre Museum.
