Qazi Kalon madrasa was built in 1905 by Salim Okhun, chief judge of Khiva Khan. The appearance and size of the madrasa is not very big, it does not differ from other madrasas, but it differs from other madrasas in the teaching style. Along with religious knowledge, jurisprudence, collection of various taxes and zakats, i.e. legal knowledge, are taught in this madrasa.
The area of the madrasa is 32.5x23.4 m, the size of the classroom is 4.7x4.7 meters, and there is a mosque next to it. Madrasa has 15 rooms. The most famous craftsmen Khudaybergan Haji, Qalandar Kochim, Bogbek Abdurahmanov, Matchon Kulimov, Vais Kulol and others took part in the construction of the madrasa. People's craftsman Abdulla Boltayev said that 35 students were educated in the madrasa.
Boboohun Salimov, the son of Qazi-Kalon Salim Okhun, was the first Minister of Justice of the People's Republic of Kazakhstan. Today, this madrasa houses the "Khorazm Music Art" museum.
